The Ballet of the Paris Opera, what does "coryphee" means?
This is where I see this - I http://www.operadeparis.fr/cns11/live/onp/L_Opera/le_Ballet/le_Ballet_de_lOpera/Premiers_danseurs/Stephane_Bullion.php?lang=en Corps de Ballet to know what it is. And I'm assuming means Sujet soloist, but tell me if I'm wrong. Therefore, I wonder which is where the medium is.
Coryphee is a member of the corps de ballet to get additional parts. More or less regular among the corps de ballet and soloists. As a solo second would be here. Yes, it is a solo Sujet. Etoile is a star or Priemier danseur who has been named a "star" of the ballet. There can be no more than one Etoile. * Not a dancer "" as has been suggested. There can only be a dancer in a company. She is the only top ballet dancer. Also a male dancer can be a coryphee.
