Is there any value to the silver bullion bars that Mills' "100?
I am looking to buy silver as an investment, not from a collectors point of view. Can anyone make suggestions as to what kind of terms, or the weight and purity to keep an eye out? I've been looking a lot on Ebay the last few days. I'm looking for serious answers. Help greatly appreciated.
If it says 100 mills, which is not a bar of gold. It is plated with 100 milligrams, a tenth of a gram. There are 31.1 grams of silver in a troy ounce, so a gram at today's price is less than a dollar, which makes tenth between 9 and 10 cents a coating. Gold to invest, you need to know both the terms and math to make conversions. Until we learn this, it is better to stay with the bars, which come in 1 oz, 10 oz, 100 oz and larger, or "rounds" of silver coins resemble but actually are the medals, and come in one ounce They must be stamped with the purity of .999 or better. You can buy gold coins real and Silver American Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs and others, but probably will pay a higher premium for 'silver spot' of what will be for rounds or bars. U.S. Purchase 90% silver coins 1964 and earlier is a good way to choose a little money, but you should not do until you know how to find the silver content.
