Johnson Matthey Gold Bar?
I am thinking of buying a Johnson Matthey 1 ounce gold Bar off a person I work with. My question is this, are there alot of Johnson Matthey fake gold bars out there and how easy or hard are they to fake. I don`t want to get ripped off.
Personally I'd buy only from a reputable source. It could be fake, you'd have to take it somewhere to get it tested and that itself would cost money.
Otherwise you'd need the exact dimensions of a real 1oz bar and measure the one youre going to buy. They need to be the exact same size. Gold is heavy than silver, but not by much. So a gold plated silver bar would go pretty close in size to solid gold. So you can see the danger! If it were something else, the size for the weight would be more noticeable.
