What is the difference between network switches?

I need a network switch for a supercomputing cluster I'm building. I need a network switch, which can transfer a large amount of data at once, but I'm confused about a witch to get. What is the difference between 10/100/1000mb/s vs 10/100 + 1000Mb / s. I would also like to know what a jumbo frame support means. These are the two switches I'm debating, and I would know what would be the best performance, and what difference would it make. The Trendnet has 24 ports that are transmitted at a maximum speed of 100 Mbps, plus two ports transmitting to 1000Mbps. These two ports are designed to connect to other switches. The Netgear has 16 ports capable of transmitting at 1000 Mbps, so the data is transferred between each computer faster with the Netgear. However, if you want super high transfer speed is to go through one of the high-end devices from Cisco or Juniper, you can not get a yield of 40 Gbps.
